FEBRUARY 25, 2016 — Bulgarian shipbuilder MTG Dolphin continues to be kept busy building dredges for Royal IHC, which has just delivered the MTG Dolphin built trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) Mahury to Baggerbedrijf de Boer – Dutch Dredging.

The 75 m x 13.4 m twin-screw TSHD is the fourth in a series for Baggerbedrijf de Boer – Dutch Dredging built at MTG Dolphin’s Varna shipyard and has a hopper capacity of 1,840 cu.m and total installed power of approx 2,440 kW.

Meantime, MTG Dolphin has just cut the first steel for its next project for Royal IHC, a 3,500 cu.m trailing suction hopper dredge for Belgium’s DEME – Dredging Environmental and Marine Engineering N.V.

The 86.2 m x 17.3 m vessel will not only be larger than dredges built previously at the Varna shipyard, but will be its first to feature dual fuel (diesel or LNG) main engines.
