Astilleros Gondan wins passenger boat order

SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 — Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondan has won an order to build a 60 passenger tourist vessel that will operate on the waters of the Azután reservoir near Toledo.

With an overall length of 14.75 m and a beam of 4.80 m the vessel will be of aluminum and GRP construction and is expected to be delivered to Toledos Council in August 2015.

To be equipped with two electric motors of 48 V and 7.5 kW maximum for comfortable, low noise navigation, it is designed to be operated with a crew of two ,sailing in continuous periods over at least 15 miles /day at an average speed of not less than 4 knots, in compliance with regulations for navigation in port or calm waters (canals, rivers).

The boat will have twin shafts with fixed pitch propellers, two rudders, and a  bow thruster to improve maneuverability. It will be equipped with a fire detection system covering the engine and  batteries and a life-saving and first aid kit.

It will be built at Gondan’s Vegadeo shipyard where the shipbuilder has developed a new production line specifically designed and built for the construction of aluminum and fiberglass workboats. It includes a 2,000 sq.m warehouse, 1,400 sq.m of which is fully thermally insulated and heated. It is equipped with a  fireproof and isolatedwelding zone, an area for resin projection and a vacuum pump for lamination by infusion.
