American Club manager adds to team

Colin-SnellFEBRUARY 19, 2013 — Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc., manager of the American P&I Club, has made new appointments to its underwriting and survey & technical departments in New York.

Colin Snell (left) has been recruited to SCB’s underwriting department to support the club’s European and North American business.

An English lawyer by training, Mr. Snell has extensive experience in P&I, having earlier occupied senior positions with other major International Group P&I Clubs in London and New York.  As vice president, Mr. Snell’s role will reflect his broad international experience, together with his local knowledge of the US market.

Tony-SmithTony Smith (right) has joined SCB as vice president and principal surveyor. His duties will include those previously undertaken by John Poulson, who is now at Atlantic Marine Associates Inc., a sister company of SCB, although his services will remain fully at the disposal of the American Club and its members.

Mr. Smith brings a wealth of experience to the SCB team. Following several years of service at sea, since coming ashore, he has had a long and successful career in the world of marine surveying and consultancy, most recently as a senior surveyor at GL Noble Denton in New York.  His many qualifications include accreditation as an ISM/ISPS auditor.
