SEPTEMBER 29, 2016 — A stunning exterior lighting concept is among the many innovations in the 150,000 grt Genting Dream, the first cruise ship to join Dream Cruises, Genting Hong Kong’s new Asian Market cruise line.

The ship has just completed its Ems conveyance from shipbuilder Meyer Werft and will soon start on its first voyage, to its homeport of Guangzhou Nansha, China,

The Dynamic Exterior Lighting concept, developed by Project International Lighting Designers, was supplied by Wärtsilä. The technology is based on the use of customized LED RGBW lighting devices, all of which are individually controlled to provide color, movement and video effects.

The system was engineered and installed by Wärtsilä Funa in close cooperation with the owner’s team and the shipyard.

“This lighting concept will change the way people see a cruise ship arriving or departing the harbors of the world,” says Frank Meyer, Project Manager, Wärtsilä Funa International GmbH.

The 335 m long Genting Dream will accommodate 3,400 passengers and 2,000 crew, and is scheduled to be in operation from November this year. Its sister ship, the World Dream, is scheduled for delivery in late 2017.
