Belgian stevedoring company DD Shipping NV, a member of the Square Group, operates two terminals along the Brussels-Scheldt Maritime Canal—one of the most important inland shipping routes in Belgium. For more flexibility, the company has invested in a stable crawler gantry solution, a Sennebogen 870 Hybrid E series, that enables fast and easy loading and unloading of heavy cargo and bulk material.

DD Shipping’s Puurs terminal is located at the sea lock of Wintam between Antwerp and Brussels. The sea lock in Wintam is 8.80 meters deep, 250 meters long and 25 meters wide and vessels of up to 10,000 dwt can pass through it and dock at the DD Shipping terminal, where a second quay will doon go into operation.

“We decided on a maneuverable version of the material handler so that we can use it flexibly on both quays in the future,” says Geert Keeris, Managing Director of DD Shipping. Several factors were decisive when purchasing the new material handler.

“With the Sennebogen 870 E we now have a stable, mobile machine with a large handling capacity, which is both comfortable and ergonomically designed for the driver,” says Keeris.
