Vigor wins $12.8 million T-AKE 14 contract

MAY 18, 2017 – Vigor Marine LLC, Portland, OR is being awarded a $12,833,725 firm-fixed-price contract for a 77-calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry docking of USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 14).

Work will include clean and gas-free tanks, voids, cofferdams and spaces, propulsion motor and cooler, main generator maintenance and cleaning, high voltage switchboard and emergency switchboard cleaning, five year main engine flex hose replacement, drydocking and undocking, propeller shaft and stern tube inspect, freshwater (closed loop) stern tube lubrication, E-stream upgrade station, underwater hull cleaning & painting, freeboard cleaning & painting, sea valve replacements, renew flight deck nonskid, and reverse osmosis unit sea-chest installation.

Work will be performed in Vigor’s Portland, OR, shippyard and is expected to be completed by Sept. 15, 2017. Fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance (Navy) funds in the amount of $12,629,046 are being obligated at the time of award.

Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with proposals solicited via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with two offers received.

The U. S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command, Norfolk, Virginia, is the contracting activity (N32205-17-C-4205).
