Philly Tankers firms up order for Jones Act tankers

JULY 11, 2014 — Aker Philadelphia Shipyard and newly-established Philly Tankers have now, through their subsidiaries, entered into firm contracts for two eco-design product tanker newbuilds and options for two additional vessels of the same type.

Philly Tankers is the pure play Jones Act shipping company recently created by Aker Philadelphia Shipyard and financial sponsors, including American Shipping Company and funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management (see earlier story).
