Conrad christens Woods Hole ferry

MAY 26, 2016 —Conrad Shipyard reports that the M/V Woods Hole, a 235-foot ferry built for the Steamship Authority of Woods Hole, MA, was recently christened at Conrad Aluminum in Amelia, LA.

With a beam of 64 ft a hull depth of 18 ft and a draft of 10.5 ft, the ferry can carry 384 passengers and 55 automobiles or 10 eighteen-wheel tractor-trailers. It will operate on a 45-minute route to and from Martha’s Vineyard and the community of Woods Hole, making 14 trips a day.

Designed by Elliott Bay Design Group, Seattle, WA, the vessel is appointed with oversized leather reclining seats, a snack area, conference tables and WIFI stations, and is equipped with state-of-the-art radar, communications and navigation systems.
