Zentech Z-210 Mobile Offshore Unit

SEPTEMBER 26, 2016 — Houston heaquartered Zentech, Inc. says that the azimuth thrusters for its new Z-210 self-elevating mobile offshore unit will be supplied by Thrustmaster of Texas.

The thrusters are driven by electric motors powered by a redundant power system from GE Marine Solutions.

The thrusters will be ABS classed for main propulsion and DP-2 dynamic positioning of the vessel, which is currently under construction at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in China.

Zentech’s Z-210 is a versatile design, capable of a full range of duties from a conventional lift or heavy lift crane vessel to an offshore drilling or offshore coil tubing work and accommodations vessel.

The Z-210 is a self-propelled, self-elevating, DP-2 capable, ABS Class, high temperature (55 deg Celsius) rated four-legged mobile offshore unit capable of operating in water depths ranging from 13 feet to 280 feet. Scheduled for delivery in first quarter 2018, the Z-210 addresses the growing needs for lift-boats in the Middle East, South East Asia, and Far East markets.

The vessel has accommodations for 150 people, has 1,200 square meters of usable deck space and a variable load capacity of up to 2,250 metric tonnes.

Now, fitted with its four powerful Thrustmaster azimuth thrusters, it will transit and position itself under its own power, at up to 6 knots, without the need for tugboats.

This will result in a significant cost reduction for operators, as well as greatly enhance the safety of the platforms during the initial positioning of the vessel.

Thrustmaster of Texas, Incorporated has been designing and manufacturing high quality marine propulsion equipment for vessels of all types, for more than thirty years. It has grown into a leading supplier of thrusters ranging from 75 kW to 8 MW, serving customers all over the world. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, where its facility, in addition to corporate offices, is home to the largest thruster manufacturing factory in the world, carrying out complete fabrication, machining, assembly and testing. All thrusters are designed in-house by a complete engineering department for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic design.
