Ultra Deep orders DSCV in China

SEPTEMBER 1, 2014 — Singapore based Ultra Deep Solutions says that it has entered a contract with Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) covering construction of an Ultra Deep Installer – Multipurpose Diving Support Construction Vessel, with an option for a second vessel.

The contract represents an investment of approximately $200 million for each vessel,

The 142 m, DP 3 vessel is based on the proprietary design Red Class 6027 MT design DSCV and planned delivery of the first vessel is early 2017.

The vessel is designed, in collaboration with Marin Teknikk Norway, to operate in up to 4,000 m water depth. It will be equipped with Unique Hydra’s 18-man twin bell Saturation Dive System.

Features of the vessel include a 400 VLT in the reinforced moon pool area. The vessel also has two 250 hp, 3,000-m working depth,Work Class ROVs, installed in ROV hangars inside the vessel. In addition, it will have a 400 ton crane with a depth capability to 5,200 m single fall and 3,200 m dual fall. The vessel’s 1,500 sq.m open deck space and 10 t/sq.m deck strength can accommodate a wide range of project required machinery and equipment.
