Farstad orders two more PSVs from STX Offshore

PSV 09JUNE 19, 2012 — Farstad Shipping ASA  has reached an agreement with STX OSV AS to build two type PSV 07 platform supply vessels . The conntract value is approx. NOK 700 million (about $117.4 million).

These two newbuildings will service a recently awarded Statoil 6-year charter.

PSV 07 is a new innovative design developed by STX OSV. The vessels are  94.5 meters long and 21 meters wide, with a deadweight of 5,600 tons. They will be built to comply with DNV’s strictest “Clean Design” class notation requirements to reduce environmental impact, and are designed for effective and safe operations in harsh conditions.

The vessels are designed by STX OSV with a total length of 94.5 meters, breadth of 21.0 meters and maximum deadweight is 5,600 tons. The vessels will be built according to DNV’s strictest environmental class – ‘Clean Design’ – and are arranged for efficient and safe operations.

The steel hull of one of the vessels will be built at STX OSV’s Tulcea, Romania, shipyard with the outfitting yard being STX OSV Langsten in Tomrefjord. The other vessel will be built at the STX OSV shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam. Deliveries of the vessels will take place during the second and third quarter 2014 respectively.
