CIMC Raffles delivers jack-up to Coastal Contracts

AUGUST 15 ,2014 — China’s CIMC Raffles has delivered the ninth jack-up to be built at its Yantai shipyard to Malaysia’s Coastal Contracts Bhd.

The rig, Coastal Driller 4001, is built to Friede & Goldman JU2000E design and is 70.36 m long, 76 m wide and 9.45 m high, with leg length of 167 m, spud can diameter of 18 m and a design draft of 6.7 m.

Maximum operation depth is 122 m (400ft), maximum drilling depth is 10,668 m (35,000 ft), and minimum operation temperature of -20 degree. Accommodations are provided for 140 persons, The rig is built to ABS class. The drilling package is by Aker MH,Tangen, Norway.

Detail design and construction design were provided by CIMC Group members Shanghai Offshore Institute and Yantai Offshore Institute.

During construction of the rig, CIMC Raffles used a derrick barge to complete the mating of the legs and main hull afloat — a “first” for China.
