WESMAR bow thruster does the job for Turkish research vessel

MAY 12, 2014 —Woodinville, WA, based WESMAR (Western Marine Electronics) reports that a V2-12 commercial bow thruster performing well as part of the propulsion equipment of the 60-ft Turkish research vessel Beluga.

The vessel is carrying out deep water research assignments related to gas and electric pipe and cable line installations and is working in areas around the Bosporus Straits, the Sea of Marmara, along the west coast of Turkey and in the South Mediterranean Sea between Turkey and Cyprus.

Maneuvering and steering a research vessel in these waters calls for a powerful, quick-to-respond bow thruster. That is what brought Beluga’s owners. Derinsu Underwater Engineering Company of Turkey to WESMAR dealer Ezberci Marine of Tuzla, Istanbul.

Ezberci knew the powerful and rugged, all stainless steel design of the dual prop, counter rotating WESMAR bow thruster would give the research vessel the best control available during its critical deep water research.
