JULY 18, 2016 — Wärtsilä has signed a framework agreement to supply Italy’s Marelli Motori with high-quality industrial G-Bearings. While Wärtsilä has been a regular supplier for Marelli Motori’s large customized machines for two years, the new agreement concerns small andmedium electrical machines specifically manufactured for the marine industry.

The new partnership strengthens Wärtsilä’s position as a supplier of seal and bearing products as well as valuable expertise.

“This framework agreement underlines the excellent partnership and trust which has developed between our two companies. Our cooperation started with a few specially customized bearing solutions and has now grown to cover a significant portion of Marelli Motori’s annual demand for housing slide bearings,” says Marco Gordon, Sales Manager Industrial, Wärtsilä. “We see this agreement as a beginning of a close cooperation which we hope to deepen further in the future.”

Marelli Motori is a leading supplier of generators and electric motors to a wide range of industries.

“Marelli Motori values a partner that can provide cost-efficient, quality products as well as the supporting technical expertise.  We chose Wärtsilä as our supplier because of its technical support expertise, as well as short lead times, competitive pricing and in-house testing capabilities,” says Christian Sanson, Marelli Motori’s Purchasing Manager.

Wärtsilä announced in October last year that it had expanded into a new market segment, offering a comprehensive package of seals, bearings and associated solutions to hydropower installations and industrial plants worldwide.

On June 23, 2016, Wärtsilä announced its acquisition of American Hydro, further strengthening its presence in the hydro and industrial segment. Wärtsilä’s Hydro & Industrial services offering targets the specific needs of hydropower, tidal energy and offshore wind installations as well as mining, paper, oil & gas, water management and power generation industries.
