VOS-Sweet-5FEBRUARY 22, 2013 — Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) has named its new Subsea Support Vessel VOS Sweet in a ceremony held earlier this month at Damen Shipyards’ Oranjewerf Shiprepair, Amsterdam.

The new vessel is named after a Rolling Stones song.

Built at Fujian Southeast Shipyard of China, the 60.24 m x 14.95 m x 6.10 m VOS Sweet is a DP-2 and 4-point mooring subsea-support vessel (SSV).

She is sister vessel to VOS Shine with enhanced DP specification and will be followed by a further, slightly larger newbuilding SSV, to be named VOS Sugar, in 2015.

VOS-Sweet-at-OranjewerfAfter arriving in the Netherlands in January, VOS Sweet underwent final outfitting work and installation of her 24 t crane at Oranjewerf Shipyard.

Work at the Amsterdam shipyard included installation of a fully equipped workplace in the aft, the positioning of an additional mast, and installing a new High Precision Acoustic Positioning (HiPAP) sonar, a Hadex drinking water treatment unit with UV filters plus various pipework.

She is now ready to commence operations in the European market, under the management of Den-Helder-based Vroon Offshore Services BV.

While Oranjewerf’s core business is docking, repair, conversion and regular maintenance of vessels and floaters for the deepsea and inland navigation sectors, the shipyard also does construction jobs and mechanic operational work.

“In fact, we are a jack of all trades. We can meet demands of our principals anyway, anytime,” says Oranjewerf commercial manager Jeen van der Werf.
