JANUARY 27, 2016 — Japan’s Namura Shipbuilding is to install ClassNK-NAPA GREEN software on a newbuilding, with the shipowner’s agreement.

The fleet performance management and optimization system collects voyage data from the VDR, data logger and other onboard devices and provides high precision performance analysis through its self-learning Dynamic Performance Model.

Namura Shipbuilding plans to use voyage data and performance analysis of actual voyage speed, draft and full cargo load performance to provide feedback for optimized ship design. The voyage data collected from ClassNK-NAPA GREEN can be used by the shipyard to indicate optimized hull shape and engine specifications for newbuildings.

Namura Shipbuilding anticipates an increase in demand for voyage support systems and believes it is strengthening its competitiveness by proactively installing the ClassNK-NAPA GREEN, software on a newbuilding and providing its clients with added value.

ClassNK-NAPA GREEN has been jointly developed by classification society ClassNK and by NAPA, a Finnish headquartered maritime-software, services and data analysis company owned by ClassNK.
