FEBRUARY 12, 2014 — Ft. Lauderdale, FL, headquartered Seabulk Tankers, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CKH), reports that it has entered into a contract to construct one 185,000 barrel coastal chemical and petroleum Articulated Tug and Barge (ATB) unit.

The barge will be constructed by Donjon Shipbuilding & Repair, Erie, PA, and the 12,000 hp ocean tug will be constructed by BAE Systems in Jacksonville, FL. BAE Systems expects to start construction of the 141 ft x 46 ft tug later this year with delivery is expected in the first half of 2016. BAE Systems holds an option for a second tug. This would indicate that there is an option for a second ocean barge unit at DonJon Shipbuilding, but none has been announced.

J. Arnold Witte, President and CEO of Donjon Marine Co., says, “This barge order brings additional work and stability to DS&R and continues our efforts to provide quality and cost effective shipbuilding and repair services in response to the needs of the international marine community.”

Daniel Thorogood, President and COO of Seabulk Tankers, Inc., says, “This ATB order brings additional capabilities to Seabulk’s growing fleet and positions us to service existing and developing customer requirements with modern, efficient equipment.”
