akersfsternmicroNorway’s Scana Industries ASA reports that subsidiary Scana Volda  has signed a new contract with STX OSV Trading. Worth around NOK 24 million (about $4.25 million) it is for delivery of three gear and propeller systems with remote control for the three type FV 01 stern trawlers ordered in September by Aker Seafoods ASA.The deal also includes an option for delivery of two additional systems. The deadline for declaring option is January 15, 2012.

The propulsion systems are diesel-electric systems with total power of 4400 kW. This is divided into two controllable pitch propellers in nozzles that are driven by two electric motors connected to two Scana reduction gears. The vessels will be built at STX OSV Braila Shipyard in Romania, and completed at a STX OSV shipyard in Norway. The equipment will be delivered in May, August and October 2012.
