Israeli shipping magnate and philanthropist Sami Ofer died at his home late Thursday night at the age of 89. His death came after a long battle with ill health.
Israel’s Haaretz news service reports that Mr. Ofer’s Ofer Brothers Group is currently under investigation in Israel for allegedly docking ships under its ownership in Iran. The investigation follows the imposition of U.S. sanctions on the firm following the sale of a tanker to Iran.
