Power Barge in cooperation agreement with BWSC

MARCH 1, 2016 — Dave Nickerson, President of Houston headquartered Power Barge Corporation reports that the company has signed a power barge design/build cooperation agreement with BWSC (Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractors A/S) of Denmark, a subsidiary of Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co. Ltd..

Vard Marine Inc., also based in Houston, will provide design support services based on its experience in designing medium speed engine power barges.

The agreement focuses on the design, production and marketing of a new modular power barge class program that will offer power barges ranging in output from 60 MW to 180 MW based on a single design.  Higher outputs and various combined cycle/SCR modes will also be available on a client request basis. In addition BWSC will offer long term maintenance as well as O&M contracts.

BWSC — which has its roots as the stationary engine division of Burmeister & Wain — is a worldwide leading EPC contractor specializing in medium speed engine and biomass power plants.  BWSC will offer deliveries targeting within 12 to 16 months from contract funding, with outright sale, electricity sale and lease contract options available.
