Pacific Drilling extends drillship option at Samsung

DECEMBER 18, 2012 — Pacific Drilling S.A. (NYSE: PACD) announced today that it has reached an agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries to extend an option to construct an eighth ultra-deepwater drillship until January 18, 2013, on the same commercial terms, including delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.

Pacific Drilling already has four of the newest ultra-deepwater drillships in service.Two additional drillships are under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries for delivery in 2013. A seventh rig is on order for delivery from the shipbuilder in May 2014.
