Olympic Shipping AS has exercised an option with Norway’s Kleven Maritime to build a second multi purpose field supply and construction vessel at the Kleven Verft shipyard in Ulsteinvik. Delivery is scheduled for June 2012.
The contract for the first vessel was announced in August 2011.
The contract price is NOK 385 million (about US $62.5 million) for each ship.
The ships will be built to a new MT 6015 design from Norwegian design company Marin Teknikk AS.
The new generation, environmentally friendly offshore vessel design emphasizes fuel economy, low emissions and large capacities both above and below deck. Class notation Ice C provides for suitability in northern areas, and the vessels will be equipped for oil recovery operations (NOFO 2009).
Deadweight is 4,800 tons, length 93.8 meters, beam 20 meters, deck space 1,060 sq.m. The accommodation area has a capacity of 60 persons.
The MT 6015 is being built in accordance with the new SPS code, and will include facilities that will make it very well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.
