Nordic Yards wins order for offshore wind service jack-up

AUGUST 14, 2012 — Germany’s Nordic Yards has signed a contract for the construction of a Wind Turbine Service Jack Up Vessel (WTSJUV) for DBB Jack-Up Services A/S of Aarhus, Denmark. The contract includes options for up to two additional vessels.

The 80 m x 32 m will have four jack-up legs and will be able to replace the heaviest wind turbine components at a height of up to 100 m with its on-board crane. It will be suitable for work at water depths of up to 45 m.

DBB Jack-Up Services A/S was established in January, 2008, as a sister company to Dansk Bjergning og Bugsering A/S (DBB – Danish Salvage and Towing Company). It has developed the concept for the vessel based on its experience with its self-elevating jack up vessel M/V Wind.
