Maersk Line Limited’s Reinhart to retire

john reinhartOCTOBER 16, 2013 — John F. Reinhart has announced that he is to retire as President and CEO of Maersk Line, Limited (MLL). He will continue to lead the company until his departure at the end of January 2014.

“I have been blessed to be part of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group for almost 23 years, and it has been my privilege and honor to work together with you for the past 14 years,” Mr. Reinhart wrote to MLL colleagues. “MLL will always be present in my heart and thoughts. I will be working with the Board and Leadership Team to finalize a smooth transition plan for the future.”

“MLL has a strong team and financial base, and the company is in position to continue its 30-year tradition of service and growth,” said Mr. Reinhart.

John Reinhart was named Chief Executive Officer of Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) in 2000 and President in 2004. He has also been a member of MLL’s Board of Directors since 1999.

In 1991, Mr. Reinhart joined Maersk Inc. in Human Resources. In 1992, he joined Universal Maritime Services (UMS) where he was General Manager of Maintenance and Repair, General Manager of Operations, and eventually President of UMS.

In 1996, he returned to Maersk Inc. as a Regional Director and then as Senior Vice President. During this period, he was responsible for commercial activities of the company, including sales, customer service and marketing for North America and served on a number of boards.

Mr. Reinhart received his B.A. in Political Science from Ohio University and completed the Executive M.B.A. Program at the University of Michigan in 1997.

MLL will announce Mr. Reinhart’s replacement when its succession plan is set.

Mr. Reinhart and his wife, Mary, settled in the Hampton Roads area in 2000. They cherish the friends they have made in the community, and they will remain in Virginia Beach during retirement.

Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) is an American company, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, that provides U.S. flag transportation, ship management and maritime technical services to government and commercial customers. This year MLL celebrates its 30th anniversary. In 1983, MLL won its first government contract to convert and operate five military prepositioning ships. Since then, it has managed and operated over 110 vessels of varying types and sizes. With the largest U.S. flag fleet in international commercial service, it employs approximately 4,200 U.S. mariners annually and works with all the major U.S. maritime unions.
