Leaders to meet in Copenhagen to discuss industry challenges

SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 — Leaders from all parts of the global maritime industry will discuss the fundamental shift in the economy and new technological advances at the Danish Maritime Forum in Copenhagen on 26-27 October.

The Danish Maritime Forum 2016 will take place at a time when the future of the industry looks more uncertain and more unpredictable than ever. Fundamental shifts in the economy and technological advances are transforming the industry as we know it, and at an unprecedented pace.

For the first time in decades, growth in world trade is falling below global economic growth. Although the global economy has continued to expand, it is doing so at rates lower than might have been expected after the recovery. At the same time, the global system of production and distribution is undergoing a profound transformation. New technologies are emerging more quickly than once seemed possible.

The Danish Maritime Forum wil lbring together more than 200 key leaders from all parts of the global maritime industry to discuss the impact of these changes on global value chains and how the maritime industry can work together to manage the risks and reap the rewards of this transformation and increase long term economic development and human wellbeing.

The participants include Rolf Habben Jansen Chief Executive Officer of Hapag-Lloyd, Randy Chen Chief Executive Officer of Wan Hai Lines, Rodolphe Saadé Vice Chairman of CMA CGM, Craig Stevenson Jr. Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of Diamond S Shipping, Patrick Rodgers Chief Executive Officer of Euronav, Mats Henrik Berglund Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Basin Shipping, H. E. Sheik Ali bin Jassim bin Mohammad Al-Thani Chairman of Milaha, Philippe Rochet Executive Vice President of Jaccar Holdings and Paul Wogan Chief Executive Officer of Gaslog who will be joined by other shipowners.

The voices of the infrastructural part of the value chain include Admiral Mohab Mohamed Hussein Mameesh Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Suez Canal Authority and Jorge L. Quijano Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the Panama Canal Authority and they will be accompanied by Tan Chong Meng Group Chief Executive Officer of PSA International and Kim Fejfer Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals.

H.E. Amer Ali Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime City Authority and Fotis Karamitsos, Deputy Director General and Director of MOVE the European Commission will be among public sector participants.

Michael Hock Chye Chia Managing Director of Keppel Offshore & Marine and Roger Holm President of Marine Solutions, Executive Vice President of Wärtsilä Corporation are amongst the participants from the technological side.

Participants from the financial industry and investors will include Kristin H. Holth Executive Vice President & Global Head of Shipping, Offshore and Logistics of DNB Bank, Michael Parker Managing Director, Global Head of Shipping of Citi and Alexis Atteslis Managing Director of Oak Hill Advisors.

Robert Bishop Executive Director of V.Ships and Peter Cremers Chairman of Anglo-Eastern Ship Management will be among ship management representatives while Dr Anil Sharma President & CEO of GMS is among the brokers taking part.

Logistics sector participants will include Dr Amy Jadesimi Managing Director of LADOL and Jost Hellmann Managing Owner of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics GmbH & Co. KG.

Remi Eriksen Group President and Chief Executive Officer of DNV GL, Thomas Thune Andersen Chairman of Lloyd’s Register and Philippe Donche-Gay Executive Vice-President and Managing Director, Marine Offshore Division of Bureau Veritas are amongst the participants from the classification societies and many other key leaders in the global maritime industry will join them at the two-day Forum.
