Kolbenschmidt brings large bore pistons to Marintec China

“Since Asia is an increasingly important market for us, we are grasping the opportunity to cultivate existing contacts and forge new ones, especially with engine manufacturers,” explains Wolfgang Hartmann, head of Large-Bore Pistons at KS Kolbenschmidt. Among other things, the company is displaying pistons employed in the main propulsion and auxiliary power generation systems of small- and medium-size ships. Also on view are pistons for installation in locomotives.
Large-bore pistons from KS Kolbenschmidt are featured in the main propulsion and auxiliary engines of such prominent cruise liners as Allure of the Seas, in container and freight vessels, as well as in power plant applications. Presently, the company supplies efficient piston solutions conforming to IMO II maritime emission standards as well as others issued by numerous countries. IMO II prescribes a clear reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions in the maritime sector. KS Kolbenschmidt is already working on solutions for the next IMO Tier III standards.
