Intermarine to add 15 vessels to fleet

Chartered by Intermarine? Germany's Zeaborn GmbH has ten 12,500 dwt heavy lift ships on order

MAY 13, 2014 — Houston headquartered heavy lift and project cargo specialist Intermarine, LLC is adding 15 new vessels to its fleet.

“We are launching our fleet renewal program with long term charters on a series of new vessels from Sanfu Shipyard & Huanghai, two of the foremost builders of ships in China,” said Frank Fischer, Managing Director Tonnage Procurement. “These state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient, eco-friendly newbuilds further enhance and validate our commitment to being a high quality partner and operator in heavy lift/project transport. They also help us meet the rising demands of our valued customers.

“As is our normal practice, we are partnering with excellent owners on this leg of our newbuild program,” said Alfred J.V. Stanley, President and CEO. “These mid-size newbuilds will form the core of our future fleet and provide an industry leading level of flexibility and efficiency. This is in line with our strategy of focusing on our customer’s cargo and providing the best available tonnage,” he continued.

Intermarine expects the first ship to enter service in 2015.

Among owners recently ordering heavy lift ships at the Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co. shipyard is Bremen, Germany, based Zeaborn GmbH & Co. KG. It  has ordered a series of ten vessels at the shipbuilder to be delivered in three-month intervals as from the fourth quarter 2015.

Measuring 144.7 m in length and 22.8 m, the 12,500 dwt, heavy-lift cargo vessels are equipped with two tower slewing cranes, each having a lifting capacity of 250 t.
