DECEMBER 8, 2014 — Oslo, Norway, headquartered Green Tech Marine AS has won a contract to deliver 21 exhaust gas cleaning systems (“scrubbers”) to an undisclosed shipowner in first quarter 2015. The scrubbers will replace the ships’ silencers.

Green Tech Marine supplies small, lightweight in-line scrubbers that replace the existing silencer and that can to operate in dry mode, open loop or closed loop in accordance with customer requirements.

Green Tech Marine says that the small footprint and low weight of its scrubbers make them suitable for virtually any kind of vessel, whether newbuild or a retrofit.

The scrubbers can be custom-made for any engine size, both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. Their small size means that no cargo, passenger or crew space will be lost, says Green Tech Marine, adding that due to the low weight of the scrubbers, the stability of the ships will not be effected.

“The contract is another important step towards convincing shipowners that exhaust gas cleaning systems is the most economical feasible solution for meeting low sulfur emissions requirements,” says Peter Strandberg, President and CEO of Green Tech Marine.
