Gibbs & Cox promotes Jonathan Applequist

APRIL 11, 2016 — Arlington, VA, headquartered naval architecture and marine engineering firm Gibbs & Cox, Inc. has named Jonathan Applequist as Vice President and Group Manager of its Maritime Services Group (MSG) which provides naval architecture, marine engineering and design services to a broad range of government clients including the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and Missile Defense Agency.

Mr. Applequist was previously the Assistant Vice President and Deputy Group Manager of MSG. His promotion follows the retirement of Frank DeMasi.

“Jonathan brings over 16 years of leadership, marine engineering and naval architect experience that spans platform development, program management and client support,” said Gibbs & Cox Chief Executive Rick Biben. “His successes managing customer fiscal and programmatic challenges is critical to G&C’s Navy portfolio and industry collaboration.”

In 2010 Mr. Applequist was named the Rosenblatt Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Naval Engineers, and also the Young Engineer of the Year by the Washington DC Council of Engineering and Architecture Societies.

Mr. Applequist holds a bachelor’s of science in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia and a certified Project Management Professional.
