Written by Nick Blenkey

FjordLine StavangerfjordAPRIL 18, 2013 — Delivery of Stavangerfjord, the first of two LNG-fueled cruise ferries ordered from Norway’s Bergen Group Fosen shipyard by Fjord Line will be delayed by up to three weeks for first cruise ferry. The shipbuilder says that installation and testing of engines and other technical equipment is expected to take longer than planned.

The two 170 m, 1,500 passenger, 600 vehicle ferries were originally were originally ordered with dual-fuel engines. However, last July Bergen Group received a contract modification to deliver the two ships delivered with single-fuel LNG engines (see earlier story).

Fjord Line has postponed the Stavangerfjord’s first sailing  from Wednesday, May 29, to Friday, June 21.

“We have booked the most technically advanced equipment available, and just have to take into account that the yard needs more time to get this in place and tested,” says Fjord Line’s CEO Ingvald Fardal
