JUNE 3, 2016 — Birkeroed, Denmark, headquartered Danelec Marine has recently won 32 orders for its new-generation DM100 Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs).

The orders were taken by Danelec distributors in China and Taiwan and include systems for 15 new pure car and truck carriers under construction at Yangfan shipyard and 17 retrofits for Yang Ming containerships.

Yang Ming is upgrading its fleet to replace the existing VDRs with new technology and selected the DM100 VDRs due to their application-specific design and advanced features such as SoftWare Advanced Protection (SWAP) for faster and easier servicing and repairs.

The Yang Ming installations are being carried out by Danelec’s service partner Navcom Electronics International Co. Ltd.

Navcom reports that Danelec’s universal retrofit conversion kits have enabled its technicians to complete each replacement on the Yang Ming ships in under 24 hours, ensuring minimal disruption to the ships’ sailing schedules.

“China represents an important growth market for Danelec Marine,” says Danelec CEO Hans Ottosen. “We are rapidly expanding our distribution channels in the country with first-rate electronics companies like Navcom. We are providing their engineers and technicians with full factory training and certifications to install, inspect and service our products.”
