Dakota Creek Industries wins AGOR design and construction contract

dakcreekAnacortes, Wash., shipbuilder Dakota Creek Industries, Inc., is being awarded a $74,141,319 fixed-price modification to a previously awarded Navy contract (N00024-10-C-2201) for the detail design and construction of the ocean class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research ship. The effort will also include technical manuals, crew familiarization training, and technical and supply support. The research ships will be a well-equipped modern oceanographic research platform capable of satisfying a wide range of research activities conducted by academic institutions and national laboratories involved in oceanographic research. This contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $145,197,832. Work will be performed in Seattle, Wash. (41 percent); Anacortes, Wash. (38 percent); Alpharetta, Ga. (9 percent); Hood River, Ore. (8 percent); Houston, Texas (2 percent); and Molndal, Sweden (2 percent). Work is expected to be completed by October 2014. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
