Brazilian yard delivers first in UT4000 FSV series

JUNE 27, 2014 — Designer Incat Crowther reports the delivery of Baru Gorgona, the first in a series of twelve UT4000 monohull Fast Supply Vessels to be built by Brazil’s ETP Engenharia Ltda. Additionally, Incat Crowther says it has signed a contract to supply the design of six further UT4000 FSVs to be built at another Brazilian shipyard, Arpoador Engenharia Ltda.

The UT4000 Fast Supply Vessel specification includes a ship’s fuel capacity in excess of 40,000 liters, with a cargo fuel load of 90,000 liters and capacity for 90,000 liters of cargo fresh water.

The expansive aft deck provides 225 sq.m of usable area, planked with hardwood and protected by cargo rails. An additional 30 sq.m of cargo area inside the main deck cabin, allows supplies such as food to be carried protected from the elements. The main deck cabin also has wet room and laundry facilities.

The upper deck wheelhouse includes an aft facing control station allowing for safe and efficient maneuvering. Below decks are six cabins accommodating 11 crew, as well as a mess, galley and bathrooms.

Baru Gorgona is powered by four Cummins QSK 50 main engines, each rated at 1,800 hp @ 1,800 rpm. Propulsion is via four five-bladed fixed-pitched propellers, with two 150 hp electric tunnel bow thrusters enhancing maneuverability. Maximum speed is 25 knots and service speed 21 knots.
