Bludworth Marine books order for newbuild barges

bludworthlogoswirl1Bludworth Marine LLC, Houston Texas, has signed a new barge construction contract with Olin Chlor Alkali Products for
three 200 ft x 35 ft x 12 ft tank barges to be built at the Bludworth Marine Orange, Texas, Shipyard.

The barges will be certificated for caustic soda and potash solution and the Type II, Subchapter O hulls will be built to ABS and USCG standards for non-flamable or combustible liquid cargos with a load line for limited coastwise service and will be provided with a cargo heating system.

Ed Shearer of The Shearer Group, Inc, a Bristol Harbor Group Company, is the naval architect and marine engineer for the newbuild Olin barges.

Bludworth Marine, has previously built a stainless steel acid barge, a 3,000 ton dry dock, a spud deck barge, and a covered hopper barge at the Orange, Texas, Shipyard, while other Bludworth shipyards in Galveston and Houston have completed a foreign flag dredge barge, two separate crane barge hull sponson projects, and numerous small barge new builds.

Bludworth Marine also operates two dry docks in Orange, Texas, and one graving dock in Galveston, Texas.
