connor bordelonOCTOBER 10, 2013 —  Bordelon Marine has secured a term contract with Baker Hughes to utilize the first vessel in its new Stingray series, the MV Connor Bordelon, as a well stimulation vessel, using the Baker Hughes skid-mounted StimFORCE modular stimulation system.

“We are very excited to work with a marque client like Baker Hughes,” says President and CEO Wes Bordelon. “They have an outstanding record and give the highest priority to the safety and well-being of their people and the environment. This culture aligns perfectly with ours, and for this reason and others, they are a company that we want to work for. The StimFORCE  modular stimulation system is also a highly effective and proven system for well intervention. We are proud to be a part of this team and look forward to working with a wide range of clients throughout the Gulf.”

The three vessels in the 260 ft Class DP2 PSV and MPSV Stingray series are being built by Bordelon Marine Shipbuilders in Houma, LA.

The second and third Stingray vessels are currently under construction with delivery dates of second quarter 2014 and first quarter 2015.

Stingray series 260 Class vessels measure 257 ft x 52 ft x 18 ft with a clear deck of 185 ft x 44 ft (8,140 sq.ft).

With a top speed of 14 knots, the Stingrays feature Cummins QSK 60-M (Enviro friendly) Tier 3 main propulsion along with Schottel 1215, 220 hp Z-Drives and Schottel STT2, 1020 hp  bow thrusters.

The Stingray can hold 158,400 gal fuel oil cargo, 4,000 cu.ft bulk mud cargo, 10,400 bbl liquid mud cargo in three separate systems and 23,000 g potable water cargo.

All systems are fully automated and controlled from the Bridge. The vessels can accommodate up to 40 passengers and feature an internal ROV office and control room.

The Stingray series are SOLAS classed, FIFI 1 ACCU, EEP 175, and Tier3

“The Stingray is a prototype design that incorporates a number of cutting edge features and capabilities, only commonly found in much larger new generation vessels,” says Mr. Bordelon. “The concept here is to give our clients a more affordable MPSV or light IMR/ROV support vessel option.

“The Stingray design offers all of the necessary cutting edge technologies and capabilities expected in a modern PSV today. But this series keeps it all within a 3,300 DWT boat, which can stay within a reasonable cost range for our client.

“We gave a lot of thought and consideration to the comfort of the Mariners, when we designed this vessel. These boats are the home away from home for our guys, and you can’t expect them to be safe, smart, and productive unless they are well rested and comfortable with their surroundings. Each stateroom has a private head, individual climate controls, and TV, internet and phone connections”
