AUGUST 3, 2015 — AEG Power Solutions says that shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. has chosen its power systems solutions to secure all critical loads applications on board Seabourn Encore, an ultra-luxury cruise ship under construction for Seabourn, a brand of Carnival Corporation.

AEG Power Solutions says that a combination of AC (Protect 8 and Protect 4) UPS and DC (Protect TPR) systems will be delivered to Fincantieri in December this year. They will secure the electrical power supply for automation, ship digital communications, public address safety system, emergency diesel generator and low location lighting.

Power supply is a critical part of security on board.

Fincantieri has said that safety will be one of this ship’s major features. It will be built using the latest technologies, whose standards will exceed the requirements of the relevant legislation.

AEG Power Solutions says that, given the technical challenge, Fincantieri selected it based on the high reliability of its products and their perfect match to the shipbuilder’s high level of requirements, and in particular their stable performance in harsh environments.

Seabourn Encore will start sailing in the end of 2016. The all-suite ship will be approximately 40,350 gross tonnes, 210 m long and 28 m wide. It will have a a cruising speed of 18.6 knots and will carry up to 600 guests.
