Titan LNG bunkering vessel to also deliver bio-LNG
Written by Nick BlenkeyAmsterdam headquartered Titan LNG, a leading independent physical supplier of LNG as a marine fuel, has put out a development tender for a new LNG bunkering vessel that will have multiple tanks to segregate streams of LNG and bio-LNG.
A carbon-neutral fuel produced from biological waste streams, bio-LNG can be stored and supplied by using existing infrastructure, blended with LNG, and dropped into existing engines. It is seen by many as a way of extending the green financing runway for LNG-fueled vessels.
Titan LNG will use the new bunkering vessel, to be called the Titan Krios, to increase the accessibility of LNG as a marine fuel in the Port of Zeebrugge and in the English Channel ports.
In line with Titan LNG’s design philosophy, Titan Krios will be a compact seagoing LNG bunker vessel of 4,200-cubic-meter capacity, with a low air draft, high maneuverability, and small footprint.
Designed by Germany’s HB Hunte Engineering, the vessel will be equipped with state of the art cargo conditioning equipment and will have two bow thrusters for easy maneuvering. The design of the vessel was done by HB Hunte Engineering.
“As demand for LNG, and increasingly bio-LNG, accelerates, ensuring the right infrastructure and supply is in place for our customers is essential,” says Michael Schaap, Titan LNG’s Commercial Director Marine.”LNG is the only fuel choice available today which offers immediate and long-term benefits ino reducing GHG emissions, and a clear pathway to achieving decarbonization targets.
“With the new Titan Krios joining our expanding fleet, we will continue our efforts to enable a more sustainable future for shipping through global accessibility to LNG, bio-LNG and eventually clean LNG produced from green hydrogen.”
