U.S. eases security for ships arriving from Cuba
Written by Nick BlenkeyMARCH 17, 2016 — In a Port Security Advisory dated today, the Coast Guard says it has determined that the Republic of Cuba is now maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures in its ports.
The Republic of Cuba has been removed from the list of countries of with ports that are not maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures.
This means that the actions required by ships visiting ports on the list are longer required for vessels that arrive in the United States after visiting ports in the Republic of Cuba.
The Coast Guard says that Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Control travel restrictions to Cuba remain in effect and regulations regarding “Unauthorized Entry into Cuban Territorial Waters” still apply.
