
Rajang Maju delivers six tugs to Coastal Contracts

AUGUST 19, 2014 — Malaysian shipbuilder Rajang Maju Marine Industries Sdn. Bhd. has delivered six Cummins-powered tugs to Coastal Contracts Bhd,
The tugs are classed by ClassNK as NS*(TUG) MNS, Tug Unrestricted Navigation. They are 32 m overall length with 9.144 m beam and a 4.2 m molded depth. Capacities include 212 tons of fuel oil, 32 tons of potable water and 24 tons of ballast water. The vessels are fitted with fuel oil transfer pumps rated at 10 cu.m per hour with a 20 m head and fresh water pumps to transfer up to 4.8 cu. m. per hour with a 19 m] head.
Accommodations are provided for up to 14 persons, in two single person cabins and six two-person cabins.
The main engines in each tug are a pair of Cummins KTA50 diesels each producing 1,600 HP at 1,800 RPM and turning four-blade nozzled propellers through Hitachi Nico MG5506 gears with 6:1 reduction. Two 80 kW generators are each powered by Cummins 6BT5.9-D(M) engines.
A three-ton electro hydraulic windlass handles the stockless 570-kg anchors. On the aft deck a 40-ton towing hook supplements a single-drum towing winch with 40-ton brake. The tug has a 40-ton bollard pull.
The wheelhouse includes an aft control station with a clear view of the working deck.
