Chellsea back at COSCO for four more PSVs

JUNE 6, 2014 —  COSCO Shipyard Group says Singapore-based Chellsea Group has exercised options more four more Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP design platform supply vessels.

COSCO has now ordered integrated design and equipment packages from Rolls-Royce for a total of eight UT 771 WP vessels, with an option for further two.

The first four are currently under construction, while the subsequent four are scheduled for delivery between the second quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017. All eight vessels will be added to the fleet of two UT 755 LN vessels that are already in operation with Chellsea.

Ronny Pål Kvalsvik, Rolls-Royce, Vice President Sales and Contract – Offshore, said: “We have developed a very good relationship with COSCO and Chellsea, and are of course extremely pleased that they have reaffirmed their confidence in both us and the UT-design with this latest contract.”

The delivery from Rolls-Royce will comprise ship design and an extensive integrated systems package including MTU-engines, propulsion systems, power electrical systems, bulk handling systems, deck machinery, automation and control system and a dynamic positioning system that uses satellite technology to automatically maintain a vessel’s position without anchoring.
