Davie facility is Canada's largest shipyard
DECEMBER 3, 2013 — Chantier Davie Canada Inc., Lévis, Québec, reports that it has earned ISO 9001:2008 certification for its new integrated management system. The quality-management certification has been awarded to Davie for meeting rigorous criteria for assuring quality in the products and services it provide its customers.
Davie is Canada’s largest and highest capacity shipyard and industrial fabricator.
The ISO 9001:2008 certification follows a significant capital expenditure program this year which resulted in a broad range of facility and systems upgrades. These include the installation of a state-of-the-art integrated facility management system. Every stage of a ship construction project is now managed from a single software suite ensuring best practice in every discipline be it ship design, procurement, human resources, production or throughlife support.
Alan Bowen, the shipbuilder’s CEO, commented “We have deployed significant capital and resources this year to ensuring that Davie’s management systems are on a par with our industry-leading production capacities. We are very pleased to have received this prestigious certification which verifies that we are applying best practices to measure and deliver quality products and services to our clients.”
