APRIL 21, 2017 — Turkey’s Uzmar Workboat and Tug Factory has delivered two 25 m x 10 m tugboats to Caracas, Venezuela, headquartered IOED (International Offshore Engineering and Development Company).

The shipbuilder started construction of the boats on a speculative basis, but after IOED showed interest in them they were sold to the company, which was an existing customer, and will now have a major role working in Venezuela’s major oil ports.

The shipyard’s Deputy General Manager Mr. Mutlu Altug stated that “we are very happy to provide our seventh boat to IOED. As our friends have an Uzmar fleet over there we will not limit our relations to tugboat provider only; also we will be their strategic partner where they will have our lifetime support.”

The vessels’ propulsion power is provided by Caterpillar 3512C engines rated at 1,765 bkW. coupled with Schottel fixed pitch propellers. Another, dedicated, diesel provides power for fire fighting operations independently of the main drives.

The vessels have a combined anchor towing winch provided by Ibercisa and delivered a 60 ton bollard pull during sea trials
