Navy to tap VT Halter Marine for T-AGS 67 oceanographic survey ship

JUNE 1, 2018 —The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) on behalf of the Support Ships, Boats, and Craft Program Office intends to issue a sole source solicitation to shipbuilder VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VTHM), Pascagoula, MS to procure a T-AGS Oceanographic Survey Ship, according to a presolicitation notice posted today.

The T-AGS 67 will be a follow-on ship to the T-AGS 60 Class program and is a follow-on effort to the T-AGS .

The T-AGS 67 is planned to be a modified repeat design of the current T-AGS 66 ship. The requirements of T-AGS 67 will require detailed knowledge and familiarity with the performance characteristics of T-AGS 66 and the T-AGS 60 Class program. This sole source solicitation will be limited to VTHM and the resultant contract will be awarded without full and open competition pursuant to 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

The presolicitation notice says that companies interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact VTHM directly.
