SEPTEMBER 19, 2016 — GD NASSCO’s recent $511 million contract to build two 265 m LNG-capable ConRo vessels for Matson (see earlier story) is providing Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) with a much needed $120 million contract to design the ships and supply materials, reports the Yonhap News Agency.

NASSCO is partnered with DSME subsidiary Daewoo Ship Engineering Company (DSEC) to provide its customers with state-of-the-art ship design and shipbuilding technologies.

Since 2006, the partnership has produced four commercial ship designs for five separate Jones Act owners.
