NASSCO wins $100 million Navy order

General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co, San Diego, Calif., has been awarded a $100,040,336 contract for the execution of the a Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) fiscal 2021 docking selected restricted availability. The contract includes options that, if exercised, could take its cumulative value to $128,231,287.

This availability will include a combination of maintenance, modernization and repair of the USS Comstock (LSD 45). This is a Chief of Naval Operations scheduled docking selected restricted availability. This is also a “long-term” availability and was solicited on a coast-wide (West coast) basis without limiting the place of performance to the vessel’s homeport.

Work will be performed in San Diego and is expected to be completed by November 2022. Fiscal 2021 other procurement (Navy) ($92,686,556; 92.6%); 2021 operation and maintenance (Navy) ($7,164,015; 7.2%); and Navy working capital funds ($189,767; 0.2%), will be obligated at the time of award, of which, $7,164,015 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

This contract was competitively procured using full and open competition via the Federal Business Opportunities website. Two offers were received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
