NOVEMBER 2, 2016 — MV Werften Fertigmodule GmbH has officially taken over its own cabin factory in Wismar, Gernany

MV Werften Fertigmodule GmbH is part of Genting Hong Kong’s shipbuilding operation, MV Werften Group, which is making a EUR 13 million investment in aquiring the facility, extending it and modernizing it. Up to 200 new jobs will be created.

The facilities, with a total area of 22,000 sq. m, will be used to manufacturing ship cabins for cruise ships with deliveries from 2020 onward. In addition to a 8,700 sq.m production area, the facilities include over 4,000 sq. m of storage area.

The cabin factory is located less than two kilometers from the Wismar shipyard and is adjacent to the A20 autobahn, with excellent transport links to the group’s other two shipyards in Rostock and Stralsund.

“Having our own cabin factory is very important as large cruise ships can only be built on a time- and cost-effective basis with prefabricated cabins,” said Jarmo Laakso, Managing Director of the MV Werften Group. “MV Werften Fertigmodule will supply us with high-quality prefabricated cabins at a competitive price.”
