Corrigan to leave BC Ferries to become Interferry CEO

OCTOBER 18, 2016 — Interferry is getting a new CEO. Mike Corrigan is to step down as President and CEO of BC Ferries on March 31 next and immediately take up the Interferry role, replacing interim CEO Darrell Bryan.

Interferry chairman Mike Grainger announced the appointment, telling delegates to the association’s 41st annual conference, in Manila, Philippines that Corrigan was the natural choice for the position.

“His experience leading BC Ferries, one of the world’s largest ferry operators, means he comes to the position knowing first-hand what many of our members experience, and how regulations being set for deep-sea shipping are not always appropriate for ferry operations,” said Grainger. “He has also served as an Interferry director for six years, most recently as treasurer, so he also knows the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead for the industry.”

Corrigan said he plans to ensure that the industry’s voice is well represented to international regulators and that members maximize the opportunities to network and share best practices.

“I am excited to be leading Interferry, advocate on behalf of our industry, focus efforts on passenger and operational safety and build the reputation of ferry operators around the world,” he said. “I believe the experience I’ve gained for the past 13 years in leadership positions at BC Ferries can be leveraged to good effect in my new role.”

The appointment drew applause from the Canadian Ferry Association (CFA)/
