World Wide Supply to lay up two of its six PSVs

MAY 27, 2015 — Norway’s World Wide Supply AS is to lay up two of its fleet of six new generation platform supply vessels.

All six 80.1 m, 1,500-tonne deck capacity vessels are of Damen Shipyards PSV 3300 design.

The DP 2 vessels have a wave piercing bow, slender hull lines and diesel electric propulsion with azimuth stern drives.

They were delivered over a six month period, the most recent being christened in March last year (see earlier story).

When that ship was delivered, World Wide Supply AS Jostein Sætrenes said that all six vessels would be under contract during the second quarter of last year.

In a stock exchange announcement today, though, World Wide Supply said:

World Wide Supply has decided to lay up the PSV`s World Diamond and World Pearl due to a very weak offshore spot market.

A total number of approx. 48 crew will be given notice of termination.

World Wide Supply’s fleet currently consists of 6 PSV vessels where four are on long term contracts with Petrobras in Brazil and two will now be laid up.
