Siem orders two more dual fuel PSVs

DECEMBER 30, 2013 — Norway’s Siem Offshore has entered into contracts with Poland’s Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A.for four dual fueled platform supply vessels of Wärtsilä’x VS 4411 DF design. The vessels have scheduled deliveries from third quarter 2015 to second quarter 2016.

Siem Offshore currently has two vessels of similar design under construction. One is being built by Norwegian shipyard Hellesøy Verft for delivery in 2014 and is contracted long-term with Total E&P Norge AS. The other is being built at Remontowa for 2015 delivery and is contracted long-term AS Norske Shell respectively.

Siem says the new series of PSVs represents the latest technology with dual fuel (LNG or MDO) systems and advanced hull design resulting in lower fuel consumption, lower fuel cost, lower emissions and a better environment.

The vessels will be built to meet the highest requirements for operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and are also suited for operations in other geographical areas.

They will have an overall length of 89 meters, a beam of 19 meters, a deck area of 970 sq.m and with a capacity of 5,500 dwt.

In addition to the usual class notations for PSVs, the vessels shall be built with equipment and class notations for Fire Fighting (Fi-Fi II), Oil Spill Recovery in Emergency Situations (Oilrec) and according to NOFO guidelines, Rescue and Standby Services to Offshore Installations (Standby Vessel) for up to 300 persons, and Safe Hose Operation System (SHOS). They will be built in accordance with Clean Design and Comfort Class criteria and will be prepared for a second fast rescue craft (FRC).
