OCTOBER 24, 2016—French engineering company GTT has received an order from Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the NO96 cryogenic membrane containment systems to equip two new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers.

The LNG carriers will be built at DSME’s shipyard in Geoje, Korea, on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, a Greek management company. The ships will be delivered in 2019.

“This order reinforces our long-standing relationship with DSME, which has already received 147 ship orders with the NO96 technology,” says Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTT. “With a fleet of 20 vessels, entirely equipped with membrane solutions, Maran Gas Maritime is a major player [in] the maritime industry. This new contract reflects the level of confidence between Maran Gas Maritime, the Korean shipbuilding industry and GTT.”

NO96 membrane system is a cryogenic liner directly supported by the ship’s inner hull. This liner includes two identical metallic membranes and two independent insulation layers. It has been used on 143 vessels, and will be installed on 59 other vessels on order.
